Georgian Country House

Gloucestershire

This beautiful late Georgian country house had all the desirable hallmarks of a Georgian home: an impressive, mature garden, generously sized, high-ceilinged rooms and large sash windows looking out onto distant views. However, it required a full transformation to unveil these original qualities and bring back the dignity it had lost.

We were instructed to manage the transformation of this Grade II Listed house, which required remodelling to provide new bathrooms and staff accommodation, the replacement of services, its complete redecoration and bespoke cabinetry. We had a tight time scale in which to obtain necessary approvals and complete the works, and a proactive and efficient approach was key.

Key architectural detail synonymous with a Georgian home had been lost with historically questionable changes. To re-establish the flow of space we stripped away later accretions and, where necessary, reinstated new joinery and plaster mouldings inspired by the wealth of detail within the house. Main rooms were remodelled, including the kitchen, dressing rooms and bathrooms, all of which required bespoke cabinetry.
