Georgian Country House

Gloucestershire

This beautiful late Georgian country house has all the hallmarks that people crave in a Georgian home, an impressive and mature garden, generously sized rooms with high ceilings and large sash windows with distant views. However, it required a full transformation to reveal these qualities and bring back a sense of quiet sumptuousness that had been lost.

We were instructed to manage the transformation of this Listed house, which required remodelling to provide new bathrooms and staff accommodation, the replacement of services, its complete redecoration and bespoke cabinetry. We had a tight time scale to complete the works within and balanced the sequencing of obtaining necessary approvals with the phasing of work.

Architectural detail a key characteristic of a Georgian home had been lost with historically questionable changes, to reinstate the original joinery detail and flow of spaces we stripped later accretions away, where necessary we reinstated new joinery and plaster mouldings inspired by the wealth of detail within the house. Key rooms were remodelled including kitchen, dressing rooms and bathrooms, which all required bespoke cabinetry.
